OFF is an academic gathering revolving around the recognised state of being off-focus.
Rather than renouncing knowledge, the blurred view encourages creative unease and the embrace of lateral questioning and permanent enquiry.
OFF collects random subjects and artefacts relating to architecture, urbanism and landscape, prividing material for debate.

CARTOGRAPHY
The impact of climatic variations on territories brutally reveals the short-sightedness of the modern approach to planning the Mediterrean coast.
Thinking of the coast as an immanent line on wich to carve out infrastrutures designed to resistthe forces that disrupt our stable image of the planet’s critical zone is to compresss our perspective to the short term and prefigure an illusory future.
In order to overcome this condition, we believe it is necessary to reverse the persective, to widen our gaze into deep time of Gaia, and to investigate the fluid diynamics that continously hybridise sea and land.
To this end, we proposed five amphibious cartographies of the central area of the Mediterrean
Sea photografing the oscillating bundary between emerged and and unemerged. Each map observes dfferent elements that with their own specificity, make theb demarcation of Terræ Aquæ fluid.
Each map uses different exposure times, necessary to capyure the temporal dimension of the observed “blurring pheneomenon”
EARTH, the solid is liquid.
ELEMENTS: terrestrial morphology;
EXPOSURE TIME: snapshot;
PHENOMENON TIME: deep geological eras
SHORELINES, the boundary between emerged and submerged is ephemeral.
ELEMENTS: water level;
EXPOSURE TIME: 0.2 Ma - 0.125 Ma - 5.6 Ma - 2200;
PHENOMENON TIME: superimposition of four snapshot.
TRAJECTORIES, the movement is amphibious.
ELEMENTS: main travel trajectories;
EXPOSURE TIME: time of the journey traversing the area;
PHENOMENON TIME: modernity.
WINDS, the Earth’surface is rippled.
ELEMENTS: winds;
EXPOSURE TIME: metereological interval;
PHENOMENON TIME: dynamics of wnd and pressure phenomena.
ENERGIES, the flux is rationalised.
ELEMENTS: exoskeleton of high distribution (oil pipelines, gas pipelines, high voltage lines);
EXPOSURE TIME: snapshot;
PHENOMENON TIME: modernity.
